Trucking grain from Western Canada to the United States is on the rise and likely to continue, says the company that monitors prairie grain handling and transportation.
About 3.2 million tons of prairie grain were trucked to U.S. buyers in 2014-15, almost double the amount in 2012-13.

U.S. guidelines show way to progress on perception of grains

Successes for the grain-based foods industry evident in the details of the U.S. Dietary Guidelines 2015-2020 should be a source of pride, said Glenn Gaesser, chairman of the scientific advisory board of the Grain Foods Foundation. Retained in the guidelines were recommendations from the 2010 guidelines calling for consumption of six servings of grains per day with at least half coming from whole grains.
