If the farmer is held responsible for producing food, then certainly the equipment used for facilitation aids in making the process of food production more economically viable.

When the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) takes effect in September 2016, food operations will be required to conduct a formal hazard analysis, develop and write a preventitive control plan, and use good manufacturing practices (GMPs), just to mention a few. While grain elevator operations may not have to comply with the food safety plan and GMP portions of the FSMA, that doesn't necessarily mean that such operations are completely off the hook.

Per capita U.S. flour use dips to lowest level in 18 years

Per capita disappearance of wheat flour in the United States dipped in 2015 to the lowest level in 18 years and represents a cumulative fall of 14 lbs, or 10%, from the recent peak in 1997. The Economic Research Service (ERS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) released on April 14 its compilations of domestic disappearance of flour in the U.S.

Grain handling expert shares bin explosion prevention tips

Plymouth County officials in northwest Iowa responded to a grain bin explosion that injured two workers recently. It took nearly an hour for fire teams to put out. As it happens, it takes the stars aligning to get a grain bin to blow up.
