Cool, ideal summer weather set high expectations for the country’s corn crop, and the USDA’s latest World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report shows just how much the crop benefited. In the recent report, the USDA forecast 2014-2015 corn production at a record 14.03 billion bushels, 172 million bushels higher than forecast in the USDA's July report.

Grain bin training has cut fatalities almost in half

It’s not a grain bin, but it’s a useful stand-in for an exercise first responders from around the area are about to stage. The EMTs, volunteer firefighters and other lifesavers have come to Purdue to learn from perhaps the world’s pre-eminent experts on grain bin entrapments.

University of Missouri Extension offers online grain marketing game

To help Missouri farmers, University of Missouri Extension created an online game called the Show-Me Market Showdown, which allows players to sell virtual crops using real-time market numbers. The goal is to give farmers and other players an even better understanding of when to sell.
